Stephen Marleyby - Mother and Child Reunion (Paul SImon and Friends DVD - 2007)

Bob Marley's second son, Stephen Marley, first appeared on record in 1979, when he was only six years old. With his brother Ziggy, the young Stephen recorded the single "Children Playing in the Streets," a charity single with the profits going to the United Nations to aid its efforts during the International Year of the Child. The single would also mark the beginnings of the Ziggy-fronted Melody Makers, a band that included Stephen's other siblings. Stephen played a supportive role in the Melody Makers from the beginning as guitarist, singer, and occasional songwriter. To satisfy his creative interests outside the group, Stephen decided to become familiar with the music industry from behind the scenes. Production work began in 1996 with Stephen contributing ideas to albums by his brothers Damian and Julian. Remixing the Fugees the same year was the first public display of Stephen's love of hip-hop and R&B. Work with Eve, Krayzie Bone, and Erykah Badu would follow along with ! a new role as "executive producer" of the Bob Marley remix compilation Chant Down Babylon, released in 1999. The album drew criticism from reggae purists who thought Stephen's mixing of hip-hop and his father's music was blasphemy, but the album's success encouraged the young producer. In 2001, his production work for brother Damian's Halfway Tree helped win the Grammy for Best Reggae Album, while Stephen's version of "Master Blaster" landed on the Stevie Wonder tribute Conception the same year. Another version of this song was released in 1960..The Shells (1) (Brooklyn, New-York ) Personnel : Nathaniel "Little Nate" Bouknight (Lead) Bobby Nurse (First Tenor) Randy Shade Alston (Second Tenor) Gus Geter (baritone) Danny Small (Bass) This US, Brooklyn-based R&B vocal group was formed in 1957. The Shells were noted for their typical New York doo-wop stylings, in which the use of a prominent bass, piercing falsetto, and strong vocal riffing in support of a romantic lead, made for one of the great folk acts of the 50. The Shells (led by Nate Bouknight aka "Little Nat") scored with a Top 30 hit with "Baby Oh Baby," charting for the tiny Johnson label in 1957. WOW is the first solo studio album released by Wendy O. Williams in 1984 after her group, the Plasmatics, broke up . In 1982, KISS asked for Wendy and the Plasmatics to appear as a Special Guest on their tour. By the end of the tour with KISS it was clear that, although the formal notice that Capitol Records didn't come for another for six months, the relationship with Capitol was done. Gene Simmons approached Wendy and Rod about producing the next Wendy O. Williams album. So as to avoid any wasted time in legal issues with Capitol Records, it was decided not to use the Plasmatics name on the record at all and was simply called WOW, the initials for Wendy O. Williams. Gene Simmons felt it would give him the freedom he wanted to add more new players to the album. Wes Beech remained to play rhythm and lead and TC Tolliver, the drummer on Coup d'État, remained to play on the new album. Gene Simmons would play bass under the pseudonym of "Reginald Van Helsing", the only other n! ew player on the album was lead guitarist Michael Ray to solve the technical challenges that had been a problem for several albums and had come to a head with the more complex music of Coup d'Etat.
